New File
This is the file Erica and I worked on this afternoon. I stayed a little longer after Erica left and Kyle helped us solved the problem -- the claw can't grab without smashing the object...
So.. now the claw drops down open automatically (with magnet sensors). It will stop at the position ready to grab the object. The players' job is to grab both side of the claw at the same time to get it close (Kyle made a new set of logic machine to get it work). Once the object is inside of the claw, the players need to go back up to the button to lift the claw up.
Greg.. I know the description above makes no sense to you... sorry about that. It's kinda hard to explain here. Erica and I will show you tomorrow! :)

LBP workshop
So the LBP workshop is designed to allow users to show off their creations and teach other users how to make stuff. It's somewhat successful in that way; the comments show users really getting into the work, and some people post lots of videos of their own stuff. That said, the interface doesn't really allow for a lot of differentiation (ie, what if I'm a beginner and just want to know how switches work? or, an advanced user who wants to learn something really sophisticated?), so it's hard to find what I'm looking for. It's not easily searchable, and I want the tags to let me see content (ie, switches) and not just categories (ie, 'characters.') It seems very successful in the Look-At-My-Cool-Stuff kind of way, and I got pretty inspired by looking through it, but it doesn't seem very useful in the tutorial sense.

Some thoughts...
We didn't really get to reflect on Tuesday's class, but I was pleasantly surprised by where we were in the grand scheme of things. Which is to say that a lot of people had busted-ass levels that were way, way too hard. Any way, I really had fun working with you two. You both have really good ideas and I thought we tackled what we could well.
Have a great break.

saved...
I got the save off the machine, so we're all good. I'm gonna start working at 6 in the 11 floor and we can either stay there or go uptown, whichever you guys prefer.
let me know.
let me know.
Tonight
So, as I mentioned, we have access to the PS3 at my in-laws apartment so we can look over what we've got and decide how to spend our last night on this level before player testing. I'm not, sure, but it sounds like we won't really have to go super huge tonight. Maybe just a few hours.
I'm in class until 5:40. We can meet at the apartment anytime after that. Maybe we should say like 7:30 or 8?
We are at 1 West 64th street. That's at the corner on 64th and Central Park West. You'll enter the building on 64th street and just tell the doorman you're going up the the Laybourne's apartment (11A).
Let me know if this works for you and have a nice day.

welll..
The final phrase (read: mine) is a table. Cute tablecloth (kinda), a large glass bowl to catch the pieces of [?] that will be emitted from Erica's phase, a jetpack that allows sackboy to collect these pieces and deposit them in a soup bowl. Things that need to be resolved: The general aesthetic - we still don't have a background for the kitchen, though we do have the props (pots/pans, etc) and the math. I don't know how to trigger the ratio requirement for mine (ie, drop in 3 pieces of chicken and 2 pieces of shrimp).
I thought I saved the level on my flash drive - Kyle was there while I did it! - but I'm not seeing it on there. Erica and I were working today on the PS3 by the door, and I checked to make sure that it saved locally before I left. Crossing my fingers.
